Advances in Resources Research is a peer-reviewed open-access journal published by the Resources Economics Research Board. The articles in ARR present new research findings and should not have been published in other journals, except for the authors’ patents and preprints.
Advances in Resources Research is published quarterly as an electronic journal. The published articles are made available on J-STAGE (Japanese Science Technology Information Aggregator, Electronic) and can be accessed freely by anyone on the Internet due to open access.
Advances in Resources Research encompasses articles in the field of natural resources (energy resources, food resources, water resources) and related disciplines, including the following:
 - Conventional oil and natural gas, coal
 - Unconventional oil and natural gas
 - New energy
 - Crop science
 - Soil science
 - Hydrology and water resources
 - Interdisciplinary research
 - Environmental Sustainability
 - Renewable Energy Technologies
 - Climate Change Mitigation
 - Biodiversity Conservation
 - Sustainable Agriculture

The manuscript types for ARR are categorized as follows.
(1) Original Paper
 An original academic study presenting new facts or valuable conclusions.
(2) Review Paper
 A newly written report on a specific subject, concentrating on previously published papers, or a discussion of the authors’ findings, including their opinions.

The copyright of articles published in Advances in Resources Research belongs to the authors, granting them publishing rights without restrictions. Advances in Resources Research operates as a fully Open Access journal and employs Creative Commons (CC) licenses, enabling users to utilize, reuse, and build upon the published material without incurring charges or seeking prior permission from the publisher or authors. Published articles fall under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) 4.0 International license. The CC BY license permits others to distribute, remix, tweak, and build upon the work, including commercial use, as long as proper credit is given to the authors. Advances in Resources Research applies an Article Processing Charge (APC) of US$500 for each accepted article. However, invitation articles are exempt from the APC, and no additional charges are incurred beyond the APC.
